Moshiach's arrival is one of three occasions that occur when [Jews are] absent-minded. Not, G-d forbid, that we aren't cognizant of the redemption for one instant, but rather, we are in an elevated state of mind, to the extent that it has risen beyond the very notion of cognizanse.
