מערכת "חץ 3" נועדה ליירט טילים ארוכי טווח והיא חלק מרכזי ממערך ההגנה הרב שכבתית שמפתח משרד הביטחון. הצלחת הניסוי מהווה אבן דרך חשובה בבניית היכולות המבצעיות של מדינת ישראל להתמודדות עם האיומים המופנים כלפיה.

This is what this morning's successful Arrow 3 flight test looked like. Israel's Missile Defense Organization, part of the Ministry of Defense, in conjunction with the US Missile Defense Agency conducted the flight test. The Arrow 3 interceptor was successfully launched and flew an exo-atmospheric trajectory through space, in accordance with the test plan.
The Arrow 3 interceptor was designed to provide an additional level of defense against ballistic missiles, to add interception opportunities to the joint U.S.-Israel Arrow Weapon System and to improve the active defense architecture of the State of Israel against missile threats.
